The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The following condition report was prepared by Alvarez Conservation Services on 7/15/21:

This gouache painting on paper is in good condition overall. The paper is structurally intact and does not present open tears, paper losses, or planar distortions. Multiple mulberry tissue patches have been properly installed in the verso edges of the page to mend prior tears.

The paper is mildly oxidized from contact with acidic material and a natural process of aging due to light exposure. This is visible through the verso. Inpainting with watercolor pencil has been professionally applied at the edges of the composition to visually improve the appearance of the tear repairs and areas where creasing had broken the media layer. The medium is well preserved overall and the colors remain vibrant.
