A pinkillu, or in the Hispanicized spelling pingullo, is a flute found throughout South America popular in northwest Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile and Peru. In the Andes this instrument is primarily used during festivals and rituals, and was historically played to celebrate a prosperous rainy season.
