The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The work is in overall good and stable condition. The varnish layer is slightly uneven and worn in some areas, most notably in the lower left quadrant. Under ultraviolet light examination reveals scattered areas of inpainting noted in lower left and right corners as well as on the sitter's face and hair. No further apparent condition issues are noted. The canvas is relined.
