The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
With some minor wear to enamels and rubbing to gilt; some firing flaws in the making; typical tiny chips to the applied flowers and foliage; small firing lines and other minor flaws in the making; further details enumerated below.
The plucker- Indistinctly incised 82. Restored through the neck; restoration to his right forearm/hand, his right calf, the basket handle and to the chicken’s feather tips. Chromium was found in the green enamels during XRF testing, indicating 19th century decoration.
The milk and eggs seller- Incised 8. Generally good order; restoration to the right handle and finial of the milk jug, as well as the strap on it and the fingertips of her right hand holding the strap. No chromium was found in the green enamels during XRF testing.
The poultry seller- Impressed 8. Restoration to his hat brim, basket handle and to the small bit of rope fastening on to the chicken’s legs. No greens were available to XRF test.
The girl feeding chicks- Impressed 30. Restored through her neck; restoration to her hat brim the fingers holding her skirt; the front of her skirt with some possible touch-ups. No greens were available to XRF test.
