- Overall condition good. A few traces of tarnish and scratches throughout. Diamond-set monogram 'D R' on top. With winding key. Gross weight: 820 gr. - O.Bachet & A. Cartier, 2020, expertise no. BC2003-78: Belle Epoque 'Petite Sonnerie' and quarter-repeater 'cube' desk clock, Cartier Paris, 1911. Particularity: an example of the larger size of Cartier's 'cube' clock production. The quarter repeater is a complication which allows the movement to chime on demand by pressing the push-button - a cabochon moonstone in this instance - and the beholder hears the hous and quarter hours chime. The term 'petite sonnerie' is a reference to a complication allowing the clock to strike the hours and quarters without repeating the hours at each quarter. It is used in the dark saving the beholder from lighting the room. Slight changes in the decors' elements made each clock unique - the color of the enamel, the guilloché design, the moulded or scroll base, etc. - Dial signed Cartier, no. 3804. Movement no. 17791. - Movement 11 jewels. Would benefit from servicing. - The dial in good condition, some dust and a few spots. - The agate in good condition. - The moonstone in good condition. - The purple guilloché enamel in good condition, a few srcatches throughout. - The white enamel with minor losses, some black spots throughout. - The diamonds all complete. - Movement ticking at time of cataloguing, working order and timekeeping cannot be guaranteed at time of purchase. - Please see Important Notice at the back of the catalogue for all clocks and watches and regarding coloured stones.
