- O.Bachet & A. Cartier, 2020, expertise no. BC2003-78: Belle Epoque 'Petite Sonnerie' and quarter-repeater 'cube' desk clock, Cartier Paris, 1911. Particularity: an example of the larger size of Cartier's 'cube' clock production. The quarter repeater is a complication which allows the movement to chime on demand by pressing the push-button - a cabochon moonstone in this instance - and the beholder hears the hous and quarter hours chime. The term 'petite sonnerie' is a reference to a complication allowing the clock to strike the hours and quarters without repeating the hours at each quarter. It is used in the dark saving the beholder from lighting the room. Slight changes in the decors' elements made each clock unique - the color of the enamel, the guilloché design, the moulded or scroll base, etc.
