- O.Bachet & A. Cartier, 2020, expertise no. BC2003-21: Urn clock, Cartier Paris, 1904. Particularity: this clock is one of the first models of Cartier's clock production in the Neo-Classical style. It is very close to XVIIIth century designs unlike later examples of the urn design which are smaller and made of guilloché enamel. The use of dark blue opaline glass further emphasizes the XVIIIth century aspect as it was used in ceiling lamps. This version has a twin, and other versions were made in a variety of marbles - two examples in blue turquoise (one of which was sold to J.P.Worth), two examples in brêche d'Alep, and two examples in brocatelle d'Espagne. This clock, although it does not bear the hallmark of a master goldsmith, can however be attributed to Victor Leneuf (workshop located at 15 rue du Poitou in Paris and active between 1885 and 1935) whose hallmark appears on two similar Cartier clocks.
