Property from the collection of Shalom Shpilman sold to benefit the Shpilman Institute for Photography.

This selection of works presents notable examples of Abstract Photography by leading 20th and 21st century photographers: the interaction between light and shadow and the composition of geometric forms, as well as the composition of volumes sculpted by light.
The sale includes striking works of experimental photography used during the early years of the 20th century, including photogram, solarisation, photomontage, and chimigram, by European avant-garde artists such as Heinz Hajek-Halke, György Kepes, Jaroslav Rössler, Aaron Siskind or Jacobi Lotte.
The selection also features work by a number of contemporary artists, covering a wide range of experimental techniques exploring the nature of photographic processes and materials, including pieces by Joan Fontcuberta, Sally Mann, Shinichi Maruyama or Arthur Ou.
