One of the 80 copies on wove paper of the first edition, uncut, in impeccable condition. The book was awarded the 1956 Prix Goncourt. Gary would be the first and only author with two books receiving the prize, as he would write The Life Before Us under a pen name (1975 Prix Goncourt).
