MACHIAVEL, Nicolas (1469-1527).

Autograph letter, signed with his initials N.M. (lower right). Acting as secretary for the Council of Ten, Machiavelli is writing to the 'Commissario' in Pistoia and saying that he'd written to him yesterday evening at length about sending bread to the people in Libra Fracta (which is Ripafratta), and even though he's sure his orders had been executed with the usual diligence, something must have happened because nothing was received.
