The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

- Overall condition good. Wear commensurate with age. The inside of the case with scratches to the metal throughout, one compartment lid would benefit from slight adjustment. Some small traces of tarnish. Push button mechanism in good working order.
- The inlayed panels and lacquer are a later addition.
- Metal unsigned.
- Mother-of-pearl: in good condition overall.
- Lacquer and enamel: orange and black lacquer in good condition overall, some scratches and small nicks; the black enamel to the oval flattened links with more noticeable areas of loss.
- Onyx: with scratches and some nicks throughout, a small chip and a surface fracture.
