- Overall condition good. Numerous scratches and nicks to the metal throughout, consistent with normal wear. The chalcedony bead and diamond-set hat rotate on the signed brooch. The unsigned brooch with traces of solder to the brooch fitting and feet, the chalcedony bead and diamond-set hat with evidence of glue.
- Additional marks: one brooch with French assay marks for 18 carat gold, signed J. LACLOCHE DEPOSE PARIS, indistinct French maker's mark. The second brooch unsigned and unmarked.
- Chalcedony: in good condition overall, some small scratches and nicks.
- Rubies and sapphires: with scratches, nicks and abrasion marks throughout.
