The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Shah Jahan :
The pigments have flaked and rubbed overall. This can be seen mainly in the green areas in front and above the emperor and at its back along the borders. The painting is stained, as can be seen in the illustration, in the upper right corner and along the margins, the gold is rubbed overall. the figure of the ruler and of its throne remain strong.
Humayun :
The face of the sitter shows some pigments strain. and very light flaking and subsequent losses to its beard. There is a crease to the middle left border of the painting next to the hanging architectural ornament finishing the lobed arch. The green rule is lightly torn to its right center. The page shows some torn damage to its corner.
