The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The pigments are flaked and show some losses, especially in the green area above the students knelling on the left and the sky above. The white area is also affected to the left of the terrace and to the roof of the pavilion which also shows a repainted area. the left hand of the young prince with pink turban and yellow tunic is probably repainted around the wrist area. The inner gold margins show some losses. The upper aubergine border is creased. The folio retains part of the cloth binding of the album it was previously attached to.
