In this episode of the Indian epic, the god Vivasvan is disguised as a sage (or rishi)and addresses King Bhishmaka. King Bhishmaka had four sons and a daughter, Rukmani, who later married Krishna. Rukmini's devotion to the rishi impressed the god Shiva who blessed her with the boon to marry Krishna.
