The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This painting presents losses overall. the losses are mostly around the borders and might have resulted from the removal of wider margins, taking part of the colour pigments during the process. Other losses can be seen below and behind the figure and to the building in the background. There is a tear running from the edge towards the rear of the figure, without affecting it. The pigments have dulled overall and show pitting and staining. The reverse reveal tarnishing and pitting which might indicate an exposition to damp.
