PROBABLY AGRA, NORTH INDIA, 19TH CENTURY
Of rectangular form on four curved legs with overhanging base and lid, the sides with inlaid floral decoration within strapwork bands, the lid with a rampant lion with a Latin inscribed scroll below set on a ground of scrolling floral vine, around this a wide band of cusped arcades containing floral sprays bordered by dark bands, the outer edge with bands of lozenges and quatrefoils, small chips to the corners, minor losses to the inlay
