The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The painting shows some light tarnish, possibly after having been exposed to damp and resulting in some pitting in places, especially to the right area close to the green margins. The opaque pigments have rubbed overall. The painting shows some light staining to its right side, behind the sitter. As visible in the illustration the yellow margins are stained and show some pink paper patches at each of the corners. The reverse is water stained and pitted.
