A SILVER INLAID BIDRI WATER PIPE (HUQQA) BASE
LUCKNOW AND BIDAR, NORTH AND CENTRAL INDIA, LATE 18TH/19TH CENTURY
The tray of circular form, on plain base, with domed body, inlaid with elegant floral sprays inhabited with peacocks rising from tapering vases within roundels with thin borders, interspersed with iris flowers rising from clusters of foliate motifs between two narrow registers of geometric patterns ; the bell shaped vase rising from a plain base to a flanged flaring neck, the decoration consisting of repeating intricate floral sprays between two bands of floral garlands, the neck with flower blooms, the base and vase associated.
