The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This painting shows extensive worm holing, water staining, tearing and creasing damages overall. the worm holing and creasing affects the elephant's body, although only a very limited area of its head, near the black plumes. The main worm holing areas are in the lower right corner, with the largest hole extending upwards near the trunk, and in the upper middle section near the longitudinal crease, extending downward in a question mark shape, affecting the elephant's back. The staining can be seen overall with stains above the animal and below in the legs area. Losses can be seen in the corner, up the centre fold and the overall edges. as mentioned previously this work was folded in four thus two crease are now visible, with the vertical one being the most noticeable.
The animal's outlines are remaining strong and so do the yellow pigments. Its head is clearly defined and accurately drawn with intricate features, near free of damages, which makes to work very attractive and powerful.
