The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
i:
The paper is in generally good condition and the pigments remain strong and fresh.
Executed on wove paper and not laid down. There are strips of brown tape along the edges of the verso. There is a circa 3 mm. tear in the lower edges and there are some further tiny and unobtrusive nicks and tears along the edges. There are some light scratches along the edges and there are some occasional tiny foxmarks and stains.
ii:
The paper is in overall fairly good condition, apart from a tear, a paper loss and discoloration. The pigments remain generally strong.
Executed on wove paper and not laid down. The sheet is heavily discoloured on the verso,, but less so on the recto. There is a vertical strip of discoloration at the centre (recto). There is a re-attached paper loss in the upper right corner and a circa 5 cm. tear in the right-centre. There are some further nicks and tears (the largest circa 5 cm.) along the edges and the drawing is most likely cut on all sides as it does not have a feigned mount. There are some light scattered scratches and a small stain upper right.
