Lot Essay

Madonna wore this dress for the premiere of her directorial debut of 'W.E', a film based on the love affair of Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII. The premiere took place in Leicester Square, London on 23 October 2011. The sequined scroll details were taken from a 1940s gown by JW Anderson of Los Angeles in Scott’s archive. Combining vintage with modern comfort it was the perfect gown for the occasion.
