Lot Essay
This gown was worn by Naomi Campbell to attend AmfAR's Cinema Against AIDS Gala in Antibes on 20 May 2010. Scott described her 'Tuxedo Terrace' collection as being 'very inspired by Turner's paintings of the Loire Valley, and the relevant and modern take on tuxedo dressing and its influence on individual style.' The collection was also named after the area in the Hollywood Hills where Scott owned a bungalow when working as a stylist in Los Angeles in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
'I met L’Wren Scott at 16 years old at a Thierry Mugler Fashion show in Paris! I was in awe of this very tall girl, yet divinely feminine. I remember the first time that I got asked who I would like as a stylist for a job in Japan. I asked L’Wren. She had the biggest heart and when you were embraced by her she would do all she could to protect and encourage you and would come up with great creative concepts. Through all that, first and foremost, she was my friend, and as we travelled the world most importantly we would laugh. As she would say to me, 'GIRL...' I still have the PJs she had made for us all with 'Girl' embossed. A Rare Gem. There will never be another L’Wren. She is always in my heart.' - Naomi Campbell
