Lot Essay

Two very similar renderings of the interior of the ‘Oude Kerk’ in Delft by Hendrick van Vliet, depicted from the same vantage point and distance, are a 1660 dated canvas in the Metropolitan Museum, New York, and a crowded version with a sermon in the Gemäldegalerie der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna, also datable to circa 1660.
