The panel consists of a single sheet of oak panel, bevelled along all sides.
The varnish has discoloured with time and is covered with surface dirt.
The paint layer is in a lovely preserved, original state. In natural light only a few diagonal surface scratches can be observed running into the composition from the centre right edge and in the lower left corner.
Inspection with UV light reveals only very few small retouchings: in the sky to the right of the church tower and to the left of the windmill. Very minor strengthening can be seen in the church spire and to the tree trunk to the far right. UV light also shows the old uneven varnish.
