拍品專文

Together with his pregnant wife Adya, Otto van Rees travelled through the big cities of Italy for half a year, before they settled in a small coastal town called Anzio. This is where Van Rees painted the present lot and many other paintings with farmers and fishermen as a subject. Instead of only using the local population as models, like many artists did, Van Rees became close friends with the people from Anzio.
