The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The painting is made of a panel consisting in two sheets of oak wood joined horizontally, bevelled on all edges. We can observe a few old holes made by wood warms which are now unactive.
A small piece of tape (approx. 8 cm. long) is attached to the join along the left edge. The panel is stable.
The varnish is even and clear. There is some very minor frame abrasion along the left edge.
The painting is in a very good overall condition in natural light. Pigments, impasto, and wet in wet paint appear all lovely preserved.
Examination under UV light reveals scattered retouching to the wood grain throughout the sky, in addition to some retouching of the wood grain in the water and a few small retouchings to the tree trunk to the left. The landscape and the staffage appear very nicely preserved.
In a modern black frame approx. 65 x 95 cm.
