The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The thick oak panel is not cradled. It consists of two sheets joined horizontally. The panel is straight.
In natural light, no obvious damages or retouching are visible. The original pigments and impasto appear beautifully preserved. A discoloured retouching of circa 7 cm long can be seen running horizontally from the left edge into the picture running through the two boats to the left.
The varnish is dirty with surface dirt on top of it.
Inspection with UV light reveals tiny retouching scattered throughout the sky and the afore mentioned retouching to the boats.
Under an even green varnish, there are remain of the old varnish on the boat.
In a modern wood frame (55 x 65 cm.)
