The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Painted on a single sheet of oak wood, bevelled all around.
The varnish is very discoloured, uneven en very dirty.
In natural light no obvious damages or retouchings can be seen, except for very few blisters in the paintlayer in the sky in the centre and very locally around it a tendency towards blistering, which needs to be addressed. A diagonal, retouched scratch of c 10 cm. is visible in the sky left of the centre and a small retouched damage next to it. The original pigments and impasto appear nicely preserved.
Under UV light the varnish lights up green, making reading difficult and revealing only discrete strengthening to the prow of the furthest ship to the very left.
The picture wold definitely benefit from a cleaning.
