The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas is relined with a wax lining. The canvas has stiffened somewhat due to the relining. The varnish is slightly discoloured. Scattered cracquelures visible, mainly in the area where the sea and sky cross over. Some of the cracquelures have cosmetic retouchings. Some minor frame scuffing visible. The impasto and pigments appear to be very nicely preserved.
Inspection under UV light shows the aforementioned scattered cosmetic retouchings and a few cosmetic retouchings in the sky.
Varnish lights up green making a further reading difficult.
