The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The panel is on an oak tree panel, it consists of three sheets not cradled but reinforced with wooden blocks at the reverse.

With the naked eye we can see some restoration along the joins and other restoration along an old horizontal crack running from the left side into the composition (about 40 cm).
These horizontal cracks corresponds to the pieces of wood at the back of the panel.
We can see some discoloured restoration in the background (upper part) and some retouching to the wood grains in the lower part. The glazes in the trompe-l-oeil elements appear well preserved and remain vibrant.

Examination under UV lighting reveals the afore mentioned (old) restorations in addition to minor restorations scattered throughout the background, in addition to a some minor retouching to the hunting composition.
Under an even thick green varnish. The painting would benefit from a cleaning.
In a modern frame (71 x 77 cm.)
