The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvases, stretchers and attachments are in generally good condition. The work is structurally sound. There is surface dust and dirt in places. There is some staining in places, coherent with the oil paint used. There is some wear and rubbing to the extreme edges and corners. When examined under ultraviolet light, the upper area of the left canvas fluoresces in a manner consistent with an overpainting, presumably by the artist himself. It is our opinion that the work is in very good condition.
