This portrait of Maria Theresa of Savoy is after the bust sculpted by Lorenzo Bartolini in the Galleria Nazionale in Parma (inv. NCTN 0800404675) looking in the opposite direction. It has also many similarities with the portrait of Maria Luisa Carlotta di Borbone-Parma in the same collection The Italian sculptor, Lorenzo Bartolini (1777-1850), was trained in the workshop of the French artist Jacques-Louis David and is responsible for some of the reliefs on the Vendôme Column.

Le portrait de Marie-Thérèse de Savoie est réalisé d'après Lorenzo Bartolini si l'on rapproche notre exemplaire de celui conservé à la Galleria Nazionale de Parme (inv. NCTN 0800404675) regardant dans le sens inverse. Il est également très proche de celui de Maria Luisa Carlotta di Borbone-Parma conservé dans les mêmes collections. Lorenzo Bartolini (1777-1850) est un sculpteur italien qui se forma notamment dans l'atelier du français Jacques-Louis David et travailla à certains reliefs de la colonne Vendôme.
