The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Le tableau a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage correctement réalisé. Le tableau est sur un châssis rapporté, à clés.
On constate des traces verticales et horizontales dans le vernis dans la partie supérieure de la composition, résultant probablement du contact avec un élément externe lorsque le vernis n'était pas encore complètement sec. Celles-ci n'entravent néanmoins pas la lisibilité de l'oeuvre. Le tableau présente un réseau de craquelures réparti sur l'ensemble de la composition. Une précédente campagne de stabilisation du réseau de craquelures a viré au blanc par endroits (ex. : dans les coins inférieurs gauche et droit, le long du bord gauche, au centre (entre les deux figures), et dans le cou du modèle féminin). On constate également une trace diagonale d'approx. 4 cm dans la fenêtre à gauche de la composition. Le tableau est sous un vernis fin.
A l'UV, l'examen révèle au moins deux campagnes de restauration. La première, plus ancienne, est visible dans les fonds de la toile peinte par l'artiste, dans le coin supérieur droit, le long du bord droit, dans le costume de la femme et dans la chaise du peintre. La seconde, plus récente, est visible dans le coin supérieur droit de la toile peinte où se révèlent d'anciens accidents, au niveau de la main du peintre et de la chaise où se révèlent également un ancien accident, dans les carnations de la femme, dans le costume rouge et la fourure de la femme, et ponctuellement dans les architectures et le visage du peintre. Les cheveux du modèle féminin semblent également avoir été remontés lors de cette seconde campagne de restauration. Le tableau est sous un vernis non homogène, pouvant dissimuler d'anciennes campagnes de restauration.
La matière reste stable.

The painting has been subject to relining, it is held under tension on a keyed stretcher and remains stable.
There are vertical and horizontal marks in the varnish in the upper part of the composition, probably resulting from contact with an external element when the varnish was not yet completely dry. However, these marks do not affect the legibility of the work. There is a fine network of craquelure across the paint surface. There is evidence of a previous campaign of stabilisation associated with this, in places the glue used has blanched (e.g. in the lower left and right corners, along the left edge, in the centre between the two figures, and on the neck of the female model). There is also a diagonal mark of approx. 4 cm in the window on the left of the composition. The painting is under fine varnish.
Examination under UV light reveals at least two restoration campaigns. The first, earlier one, is visible in the background of the canvas painted by the artist, in the top right-hand corner, along the right-hand edge, in the woman's costume and in the painter's chair. The second, more recent, is visible in the top right-hand corner of the painted canvas, where an old tear can be seen, in the painter's hand and the chair, where an old tear can also be seen, in the woman's complexion, in the woman's red suit and fur. There is some further scattered in the architectural elements and the painter's face. The hair of the female model also appears to have been strengthened during this second restoration campaign. The painting is under a non-homogeneous varnish, which may conceal further restoration. The paint remains stable.
