Le tableau est peint sur sa toile d'origine. Celle-ci est correctement maintenue sous tension.
On constate au revers de la toile deux éléments de gaze format un patch de restauration d'approx. 8 x 15 cm dans le coin inférieur gauche (vu du revers).

A l'oeil nu, le tableau a préservé de jolis rehauts dans les blancs. Il présente un réseau de craquelures réparti sur l'ensemble de la composition.

L'examen à l'UV révèle la restauration associées aux éléments de gaze susmentionnés dans le coin inférieur droit (vu côté face picturale). Il s'agit d'un ancien accident vertical d'approx. 7 x 16 cm auquel sont associées quelques plus petites retouches ponctuelles dans cette même zone. Sous un vernis non homogène.

The canvas is unlined, it is held under correct tension on its stretcher. To the reverse, two pieces of gauze forming a restoration patch approximately 8 × 15 cm in size can be seen in the lower left corner.

In natural light the painting presents very well, having retained attractive highlights in the whites. A fine network of craquelure is visible across the entire composition.

Ultraviolet examination reveals restoration corresponding to the aforementioned gauze patches in the lower right corner (as viewed from the front). This corresponds to an old vertical damage approximately 7 × 16 cm in size, with a few smaller localized points of retouching in the same area. The painting is covered with an uneven varnish.
