The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Le tableau est peint sur un panneau de cuivre, non parqueté. Le support est légèrement gondolé sur la partie gauche. A l'oeil nu, le tableau est encrassé et on constate que les bleus du ciel ont fait l'objet de reprises. Les papillons sont bien préservés dans l'ensemble.
A l'UV : on constate les reprises dans le ciel précédemment mentionnées. On constate des reprises dans certaines feuilles, certains bruns des insectes et une reprise un peu plus récente dans le ciel.
Sous un vernis uniforme, légères coulures sur le vernis.

The painting is painted on a copper plate, this remains stable.
In natural light some overpainting can be seen in the sky and in the grass, which has taken on a slightly grey tint over time (under the elephants in particular). There is evidence of some retouching in the browns (of the foliage and the animals).
Under UV light more recent restoration can be seen in the sky and on the horizon.
There are scattered traces of old varnish.
