De cet orléanais, élève de Simon Vouet, surtout réputé pour ces réalisations de plafonds parisiens autour de 1660, à l’époque de Michel Dorigny, Eustache Le Sueur ou encore Charles Le Brun, peu de dessins sont aujourd’hui connus. Le thème de cette feuille peut être rapproché d’une étude au lavis brun à la composition plus finie de l’artiste représentant Samson prenant le miel dans la gueule du Lion dans un large paysage animé de personnages et d’une ville à l’arrière-plan (localisation inconnue ; vente Hôtel Drouot, Paris, 11 juin 2021, lot 13).
