The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Le tableau est sur sa toile d'origine. Il est sur un châssis à clefs. Un cadre en bois est cloué à l'actuel châssis. La toile est un peu distendue et gondolée dans les parties inférieures et supérieures, ayant créé des craquelures assez profondes.
On constate du chancis de vernis dans certaines parties, notamment le manteau rouge du personnage.
L'examen à la lumière UV révèle quelques retouches ponctuelles dans l'arbre et le manteau du modèle ainsi que dans la végétation en bas à gauche.
Sous un vernis vert épais pouvant dissimuler d'éventuelles restaurations antérieures.

The canvas is unlined, it is held on a keyed stretcher, to which a further wooded frame is nailed. The canvas is somewhat slack and buckled in the upper and lower sections, which has led to a very pronounced network of craquelure.
Varnish bloom is visible in certain areas, notably in the figure's red jacket.
Examination under UV light reveals some scattered retouching in the tree, the sitter's jacket, and the vegetation at the lower left.
Presented under a thick, green varnish, which may conceal earlier restorations.
