The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

There are the inevitable surface scratches and minor chips consistent with age and handling.
Dust overall.
The carving on the box appears unfinished, as suggested by areas that have been left uncarved.
The circular element at the centre is missing.
The locking mechanism is missing; consequently : when the box is opened, a hole designed to accommodate the locking mechanism is visible and the sliding lid can no longer be secured. A small recess, fitted with a wooden cover concealing the mechanism, is visible beneath the box.
Traces of an old label, now completely removed, are visible on the underside of the box.
