The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Le tableau est sur sa toile d'origine. Il est tendu par des bandes de tensions le long des quatre bords, recouvertes par des bandes de papiers kraft assez récentes. Il est sur un châssis rapporté, à clefs.
Au revers de la toile, on compte cinq petites pièces de restauration réparant probablement d'anciennes déchirures.

A l'oeil nu, le tableau possède un réseau de craquelures un peu prononcé dans la partie supérieure gauche. Il est sous un vernis partiellement nettoyé, on constate des traces de vieux vernis jaune dans certaines parties de la peinture (visage, partie inférieure du vêtement). On constate d'anciennes restaurations ayant viré, notamment le long des bords.

L'examen à la lumière UV révèle des restaurations récentes dans la perruque, certains motifs des damas dans les fonds, dans les drapés et le long des bords notamment inférieur et droit.
Le vernis est partiellement nettoyé. Trace de vieux vernis épais dans le vêtement.

The canvas is unlined, it is held under tension on a keyed stretcher with strip lining to the canvas edges. To the reverse of the canvas, five small restoration patches can be seen, probably repairing old tears.

In natural light, a network of craquelure can be seen in the upper left section. The work is under a partially cleaned varnish; traces of old yellow varnish are visible in certain areas of the painting (face, lower section of the garment). Old retouching that has discoloured is visible, particularly along the edges.

Examination under UV light reveals recent restoration in the wig, certain motifs of the damask in the backgrounds, in the drapery and along the edges, most notably the lower and right edges. The varnish is partially cleaned. Traces of old thick varnish are visible in the clothing.
