93 x 81 x 6 cm.).
ENGLISH The painting has been subject to quite a strict reline, it is held under tension on a keyed stretcher. The relining process has somewhat flattened the paint surface in certain areas. There is some abrasion to the upper canvas edge, and some marks and dirt to the canvas edges, all the result of previous frame abrasion. Small scratches are visible in the upper part of the composition and some minor scattered losses are visible in the background. The painting carries some surface dirt. Examination under UV light reveals some restoration in the background especially around the marks caused by the frame in the upper quadrant. There is some further retouching to the right side of the sitter's face and in some elements of her clothes (her right sleeve for instance). The painting is under a thick, even varnish, which precludes further examination. In a wood painted frame (approx. 93 x 81 x 6 cm.).
