Le tableau est peint sur un panneau de chêne non parqueté, légèrement biseauté. Le support est stable.

A l'œil nu, on constate des manques dans le fond sombre, principalement en haut à gauche, ainsi qu'un petit manque dans les carnations dans le genou de l'Enfant. On constate des vieux repeints ayant viré dans les carnations en général. On constate des griffures dans la matière dans la chevelure de l'Enfant et le coussin. Le tableau est très encrassé, jauni.

A l'UV, on constate les restaurations susmentionnées. Le tableau est sous un vernis vert épais.

Dans un cadre en bois sculpté peint (approx. 63 x 53 cm.).

The painting is executed on panel, this has a slight convex bow. The panel remains stable.

Examination in natural light reveals some minor scattered losses in the background, notably one at upper left and one in the Child’s knee. There is some old, discoloured retouching in the flesh tones. There are some very minor scratches in the Child’s hair and in the cushion. The varnish has yellowed and carries some dirt, this would benefit from cleaning.

Examination under UV confirms the above.
