Le tableau est sur sa toile d'origine. Le tableau est sur un châssis rapporté à clés.

A l'oeil nu, on ne constate pas de restaurations importantes ayant viré. Les bruns de la partie gauche sont un peu abrasés. On constate quelques retouches ponctuelles le long des bords, principalement inférieur et supérieur, probablement suite à des frottements du cadre.

A l'UV, on constate des retouches ponctuelles récentes dans le ciel et les personnages ainsi que d'une restauration un peu plus débordante à droite du volcan. Sous un vernis ancien, partiellement nettoyé dans la mer et autour de la lune.

Dans un cadre en bois peint à l'imitation de l'écaille (approx. 56 x 68 cm.).

The painting is unlined. It is held under tension on a keyed stretcher.
In natural light the painting presents very well, with no evident restoration. There is some minor abrasion to the browns to the left-hand side. There is some minor retouching to the edges of the composition, mainly at the upper and lower edges, likely due to historic frame abrasion.
Examination under UV light reveals some scattered retouching in the sky and the figures. There is an area of restoration to the right of the volcano.
Under an old varnish, which has been partially cleaned over the sea and the moon.
In a faux tortoiseshell frame. (approx. 56 x 68 cm.).
