The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvases have been subject to relining, they are held under relatively strict tension on keyed stretchers and remain stable.
Both paintings present very well in natural light, with the detail of the flowers and the depth of colour very nicely preserved.
Examination under UV light confirms the flowers to be well preserved overall. There is some retouching evident, most notably in the yellow flowers. The backgrounds appear to have been strengthened. Both are under a slightly uneven varnish. It is possible that there is more than one campaign of restoration in evidence, the older of these having strengthened some of the white and red elements in the flowers, notably in the lower half of the compositions. The paint remains stable.
