Le tableau est exécuté sur un carton ayant été marouflé sur un panneau. Celui-ci est biseauté le long des bords supérieur et droit. Le panneau présente une légère courbure convexe. L'ensemble est stable.

A l'oeil nu, le tableau se présente dans un bel état général : il a préservé de jolis empâtements dans les rochers, ainsi que la palette nuancée du peintre.
On constate trois anciens petits manques ayant été restaurés dans la partie supérieure droite de la composition. Les carnations des figures sont un peu abrasées, sans néanmoins gêner la lecture de l'oeuvre. Sous un vernis épais brillant, quelque peu encrassé dans le coin supérieur droit.

A l'UV, on constate quelques restaurations ponctuelles dans les rochers, ainsi que le long du bord droit dans le ciel. Bon état général aux UV.

The painting is executed on board laid down on panel. The panel is beveled along the top and right edges. It has a slight convex curvature. The whole is stable.

In natural light the painting appears to be in good overall condition: it has retained some lovely impasto in the rocks, and the nuanced palette remains fully appreciable. There are three small areas of damage that have been restored in the upper right of the composition. The flesh tones of the figures are slightly abraded, but this does not detract from the overall appearance of the work. Under a thick, glossy varnish, which is carries some dirt.

Under UV light, there are a few isolated restorations in the rocks and along the right edge of the sky. Good overall condition under UV light.
