The painting has been subject to a relining which may have flattened the paint layer and abrade some glazes. The painting is on a stretcher which has been added on at a later stage. There are traces of moisture on the reverse, top left.
The painting has been subject to a recent cleaning process.
Ultraviolet examination reveals recent restorations to the medallion, to the backgrounds, and scattered restorations to the face of the Duke of Orléans. Some hair of Henrietta of England appear to have been strengthened. Older restorations can be seen in the drapery of the central figure. The painting has recently been cleaned with traces of old thick green varnish in the lower left-hand corner.
Without frame.
