OA 990).
These two purse plaques are rare enough to be noted. In good condition, they represent Christ and the Virgin, each ovoid and with a pierced border to be sewn onto a textile element containing coins or other precious objects. There are a few later plaques on the market, but very few in museums, such as the portrait purse made by Jacques II Laudin and dating from the end of the 17th century (Musée du Louvre, inv. MRR 204). Our two plaques are close to the productions of Jean I Limosin (circa 1528-1610), to whom they were attributed in the Impertinente exhibition, and also to a plaque, formerly attributed to this enameller, for the face and the hair of Christ (op. cit. S. Baratte, p. 391, Musée du Louvre, inv. OA 990).
