Le tableau est peint sur un panneau non parqueté. Le support est stable, légèrement convexe.
A l'oeil nu, on constate quelques retouches ayant viré dans les bleus des costumes des deux personnages agenouillés, en bas de la composition. Les bruns des fonds et du mobilier semblent également avoir été retouchés, tout comme ceux de la literie. Du dessin sous-jacent est visible par endroits.
A l'UV, on constate une retouche récente et une retouche ancienne le long des deux fentes verticales du panneau. On constate également les retouches dans les bruns susmentionnées. Sous un vernis vert uniforme, très ponctuellement nettoyé dans les verts de certains drapés.

The painting has been executed on a panel which is uncradled. The medium is stable, slightly convex.
To the naked eye, some discoloured retouching is noticeable to the blues of the clothing of the two kneeled figures, in the lower part of the composition. The browns of the backgrounds and of the furniture seem to have been retouched as well, just as the browns of the bedding. Some preparatory drawing can be seen in some parts.
Ultraviolet examination reveals a recent retouch and an old retouch along the the two vertical splits of the panel. The afore mentioned retouching to the browns can also be seen. Under an even surface, green varnish, which has been cleaned in a scattered way in the greens of some drapery elements.
