Le tableau est peint sur un panneau de chêne non parqueté et légèrement biseauté. Le panneau est stable.

A l’œil nu, on constate un joli dessin sous-jacent, bien présent. Le fond noir semble avoir été repris ainsi que quelques zones de carnation.

A l’UV, on constate des retouches récentes ponctuelles dans le costume, les carnations et une retouche plus importante dans la main gauche du modèle. On constate également des restaurations dans les fonds. Le tableau est sous un vernis récent, on constate des traces d’ancien vernis dans les fonds.

Dans un cadre de style XVIIe à décor peint avec un cartouche 'Hans HOLBEIN le Jeune / 1497-1543' (approx. 87 x 70 cm.).

The painting has been executed on an oak panel which is uncradled and slightly beveled. The panel remains stable.

To the naked eye, some underlying drawing is noticeable. The black background seems to have been retouched, as well as some flesh tones.

Ultraviolet examination reveals scattered retouching to the costume, the flesh tones and a more extensive retouching to the left hand of the woman. Some restoration are noticeable to the backgrounds. The painting is under a coat of recent varnish. We can see some areas with historic varnish in the backgrounds.

In a 17th style frame with painted motifs, with a cartouche 'Hans HOLBEIN le Jeune / 1497-1543' (approx. 87 x 70 cm.).
