Le tableau a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage récent réalisé dans la seconde moitié du XXe siècle. Un peu fort, il a pu abraser par endroits la matière picturale et déformer la trame de la toile. Il est sur un châssis rapporté à clés.

A l'oeil nu, on constate un très léger manque en bas à droite. On devine des repeints dans le fonds et on constate des éléments collés sur le vernis le long du bord gauche. Les couleurs restent vibrantes et le personnage a préservé par endroits un joli modelé.

A l'UV, on constate des retouches dans le fonds, ponctuelles sur le vêtement, sur les mèches de cheveux, sur le visage. Elles sont bient faites, pas débordantes. On constate une restauration horizontale plus importante de 15 cm. de long dans le turban. Le fonds a été dévernis. Le modèle est encore sous un vernis plus ancien.

The canvas has been subject to a recent relining, which was executed in the second half of the 20th century. The relining was a bit firm and may have caused the painted surface to flatten as well as causing some canvas pull. It is not on its original stretcher.

Examination under natural light reveals some minor paint loss in the lower right quadrant. We can discern some retouching in the background, as well as some matter glued atop the varnish along the left edge. The colours remain vibrant and the modelling of the face is still fully appreciable.

Under UV light, we can see a previous restoration campaign in the background, as well as some scattered retouching on the clothes, the hair and the face of the sitter. These restorations were thoroughly done and the retouching do not overspill. There is also a horizontal restoration spanning 15 cm. along the sitter’s headdress. The varnish over the background has been removed, whilst the model remains under a historic varnish.

It is in a 1700-style frame (approx. 96 x 82 cm.).
